The Hammering Man

For 35 years, the 48-foot tall Hammering Man sculpture has watched over the streets of Seattle. Working tirelessly. Hammering away. Day and night. Artist Jonathan Borofsky stated that “the Hammering Man is a worker. The Hammering Man celebrates the worker.” In this display, we recognize the work that our volunteers pour into our club, with pride and passion. We celebrate the working class roots of the sport. And we honor the work ethic of our players, which has made the Sounders the most decorated club in America.

This Hammering Man is shown scarfed in our colors, dropping a hammer on our foes, their broken crests falling to his feet. With this attitude, we enter the 2026 MLS season looking for even more hardware. It’s what workers do. It’s what Sounders do. Because we know, no one outworks the Seattle Fuckin’ Sounders.
